I often find myself returning to familiar shapes, colours and little details that have appeared in earlier paintings. It's almost like picking up a conversation where I left off.
With this painting, I enjoyed building up layers, adding and removing paint, and allowing little glimpses of what came before to remain visible. I love how a painting develops its own character along the way.

There's something about summer that always finds its way into my paintings. The warmth, the colours and those little moments that stay with us long after the season has passed.
With Summer Song, I wanted to capture a bit of that feeling. I played with colour, shapes and layers, letting the composition develop as I went along. I love how little touches of texture and unexpected marks can bring a painting together.

A Certain Arrangement / Un heureux Agencement
I love playing with the way familiar objects relate to one another. A little shift in perspective, an unexpected shape or a colour placed just so can completely change the feeling of a painting.
In A Certain Arrangement, I worked with a palette of warm greens and golds, adding a little pop of muted purple for contrast. As the painting developed, I played with the balance of shapes and added bits of pattern and pencil lines here and there, just enough to create interest and give your eye something to explore.
It's those little details I enjoy most. I think they're what make a painting interesting to live with, giving you something new to discover every time you take a closer look.

So It Went / Ainsi va la Vie
Sometimes I start a painting with nothing more than a colour in mind, and this time it was blue. I love exploring the different blues I can mix, from warm to cool, and seeing how they work together.
With So It Went, I let the composition develop as I painted, adding familiar shapes, adjusting colours and leaving little glimpses of earlier layers showing through. I like those unexpected details that happen along the way. They're often what make a painting interesting to me.
There's something calming about blue, and I think this piece would bring a lovely sense of quiet and warmth to a room, with plenty to discover when you look a little closer.

Good and Gathered / Tout en Harmonie
Blue is one of those colours I never tire of exploring. I love mixing different blues, playing with their warmth and coolness, and seeing how they work together.
In Good and Gathered, I let blue take the lead, building the composition around a few familiar shapes and simple objects. I especially like the little glimpses of earlier layers and the subtle changes in colour that you notice when you get up close.

In Good Company/ En Bonne Compagnie
I love playing with the shapes and colours of everyday objects, bringing them together in ways that just feel right to me. Sometimes it's the way two colours work together, or how one shape balances another, that makes the whole painting come together.
With In Good Company, I wanted to create that comfortable feeling of things belonging together. I've left little bits of earlier layers showing through, adding texture and interest when you get up close.

Simply Red
Sometimes I just fall in love with a colour and want to see where it takes me. This time, it was red! I love its warmth and energy, but it's also the layers and textures that make this painting interesting to me. Little glimpses of earlier colours, visible brushstrokes and areas where I've added or removed paint all become part of the composition. I love how these details reveal themselves when you get closer. I can imagine Simply Red bringing a wonderful splash of colour to a room, with little things to discover every time you look at it.

I love bringing together familiar objects and seeing how they work alongside one another. Here, a few simple vessels, some fruit and a handful of branches were my starting point. I played with deep purples, olive greens and warm ochres, adding little bits of pattern and texture along the way. I especially like the contrast between the soft, rounded shapes and the more structured background. It's the kind of everyday arrangement that feels familiar to me, which is why I called it Chez Nous.

Love and Lemons
A little fairy tale
Long before people remembered to make wishes, there was a hidden garden where lemons did not grow on trees. They appeared wherever kindness had been shared without expecting anything in return.
An old gardener watched over them, but as the years passed, he realized people had forgotten where joy lived. So he gathered the brightest lemons he could find and placed them in a white bowl. He tucked a few into a tall green vase and carried them to a lonely little house with a single black chair by the window.
Every evening, the chair waited.
One day, a young woman wandered in, tired from carrying the weight of always trying to be enough. She sat quietly, and as the last light spilled through the window, one lemon rolled gently onto the floor.
She picked it up.
It was warm.
Not warm from the sun, but from every kind word that had ever been spoken to someone who needed it.
Another lemon rolled. Then another.
Soon they were scattered everywhere, glowing like tiny golden lanterns.
The flowers in the vase, which had bowed their heads from waiting so long, slowly lifted toward the light. The room filled with a gentle peace—not loud happiness, but the kind that settles into your heart and quietly says, You are home.
The woman smiled without knowing why.
Before she left, the old gardener whispered,
"Love is a curious thing. The more you gather it, the more it escapes the bowl and finds its way into every corner."
When she turned around to thank him, he was gone.
Only the chair remained.
It is said that if you ever find a room with lemons glowing in impossible places, don't tidy them away too quickly. One of them carries a little piece of love meant just for you, waiting until you're ready to bring it home.

A little fairy tale
There is an old saying that plums only ripen where secrets are safe.
Hidden at the edge of an enchanted orchard stood a tiny cottage where every visitor was welcomed with a bowl of deep purple plums. No one knew where they came from. Each morning, the bowl was full again.
The keeper of the cottage had only one rule:
"Take a plum only if you are willing to leave behind a worry."
Most people laughed. A piece of fruit could never carry away sadness.
But they took one anyway.
A woman who had forgotten how to dream left behind her fear of beginning again. A young boy traded his loneliness for curiosity. Two old friends quietly placed years of silence into the bowl without speaking a word.
The plums grew sweeter with every burden they absorbed.
One evening, as the last light touched the windows, the bowl overflowed. A few plums rolled gently across the table, their skins glowing like tiny jewels. The flowers leaned closer, as if listening to the stories they carried.
The keeper smiled.
"You see," she whispered, "happiness isn't something we find. It's what appears when we make room for it."
And from that day on, people stopped calling it a bowl of plums.
They called it The Bowl of Second Chances.
It is said that if you ever come across a table where the plums seem just a little too beautiful to be ordinary, choose one with care. It may ask for nothing more than a single worry in return—and leave you with a heart light enough to begin again.
