So It Went / Ainsi va la Vie
Sometimes I start a painting with nothing more than a colour in mind, and this time it was blue. I love exploring the different blues I can mix, from warm to cool, and seeing how they work together.
With So It Went, I let the composition develop as I painted, adding familiar shapes, adjusting colours and leaving little glimpses of earlier layers showing through. I like those unexpected details that happen along the way. They're often what make a painting interesting to me.
There's something calming about blue, and I think this piece would bring a lovely sense of quiet and warmth to a room, with plenty to discover when you look a little closer.
