I often find myself returning to familiar shapes, colours and little details that have appeared in earlier paintings. It's almost like picking up a conversation where I left off.
With this painting, I enjoyed building up layers, adding and removing paint, and allowing little glimpses of what came before to remain visible. I love how a painting develops its own character along the way.
There's something comforting about familiar things, and I think Where We Left Off would bring a lovely sense of warmth and personality to a room.
